How to unlock hands-free data entry in TOTAL for Mobile

Armed with personalized QuickLists, most TOTAL for Mobile users can get through the bulk of their formfilling in a short series of taps. But what about the fields in your report that require more than a canned comment? Believe it or not, there's a way to avoid your touchscreen keyboard altogether! Your mobile device comes with speech-to-text, and TOTAL for Mobile helps you take advantage of it.
In TOTAL for Mobile, every field on your form is optimized for voice. Our app uses your device's voice detection software, so taking a note or making a field entry is just as accurate as dictating a text message or an email.
Note: If you're on an Apple device (iOS), you need to be connected to the Internet to use this feature.
Try it:
- With your report open, tap in the middle of any field to bring up your touchscreen keyboard.
- Tap on the microphone icon to the left of your spacebar to start recording.
- Speak clearly into your microphone.
- Tap the icon at the bottom to finish.
That's it! TOTAL for Mobile instantly transcribes your voice — whether you're making a note, filling out critical items, or naming a sketch label. Anytime you can use your keyboard, you can use speech-to-text, too.
