Merge field data easier with TOTAL for Mobile 2013

Sometimes you forget to sync your desktop report to your iPhone before you go into the field. Or, you might get a Mercury Network order while you’re on one inspection and want to start your field work on the new order right away. Either way, you have to start a new report on your mobile device when you already have a report waiting on your desktop.

With TOTAL for Mobile 2013, you can take your field work from any report and merge it with an existing report you’ve already started on the desktop. This way you can start a report from anywhere, either on the desktop or mobile device (or both) — and not risk creating duplicate reports. Here’s how.

Before you sync down your field data , simply open the desktop report first. Then, download your mobile data:

  • From TOTAL 2013's Dashboard, click Download in the TOTAL Mobile area.
  • Select the file in the cloud that has the data you want to merge, and click Download.
  • In the Data Import screen, simply choose the option to Merge into a currently open report.
  • Next, choose whether you want your field data to replace the data in the desktop report, or to keep the data that’s there and simply fill in the blanks.
  • Finally, click Import.

That’s it! Now, your field data is merged into your desktop report, and you don’t have any duplicate reports to mess with. Try this in your next TOTAL 2013 report.
