Custom non-property map balloons

Written by on November 6, 2012

Have you ever wanted to put a non-property balloon onto a location map to highlight a park up the street, or to call attention to the placement of a nearby eyesore? If you’re not using WinTOTAL or TOTAL, you might not be able to do this.

In WinTOTAL, you manually add a balloon when you’re in the map wizard. Click Add/Move Balloon, then click on the map where you want the balloon pointer to go. Bullet the bottom option to create new custom balloon, then give it a description. Click OK. Now you can drag the new balloon around to wherever looks best. TOTAL users, Don't Panic! Make sure the balloon option in the lower left is selected, click the plus sign, then click where on the map you want to place the balloon.

Use the balloons in WinTOTAL’s location maps to visually point out to your client the relevant placement of everything from ponds and parks to dump sites and abandoned oil wells. If your software doesn’t let you easily add balloons to your maps like this, click here for a free trial of WinTOTAL or TOTAL.

Bonus Tip
The default color of a custom balloon is yellow, but you can choose whichever color you want. After placing the balloon, simply select it with a click, then choose a different color from the pull-down menu on the left.
