Get a head start on the upcoming UAD changes

Written by on December 10, 2013

Are you ready for the new UAD instructions coming in a few weeks? The new guidelines go into effect on January 2nd. The video above walks you through what to expect in TOTAL and WinTOTAL in the coming weeks. (Be on the lookout for Instant Customer Updates soon.)

As we posted on our blog last week (read it here), these changes are specific to the Design/Style and Garage/Carport fields in the grid. Simply put, the changes are as follows:

  • You'll need to indicate if the property is attached, detached, or semi-detached in the Design/Style field on Page 2. Then you need to list the number of stories and the architectural style, separated by a semicolon. For example, if you have a 2-story Ranch house that isn't attached, you'd input: DT2;Ranch. Check the UAD guidance here (page 28) for the new definitions of each abbreviation.
  • In the Garage/Carport field, the GSEs now specify particular abbreviations and how to order them.

As of right now, these fields are not considered "Required," so your report won't fail at the UCDP Portal if not filled out properly. Regardless, there's no need to worry about double-checking each field's UAD syntax. Both TOTAL and WinTOTAL have you covered with new Dynamic Field Expansions (DEFs) just like you're used to with other UAD fields.

As always, these coming updates are included with your membership, so you'll be prepared before the deadline next month. If you don't have TOTAL yet, click here to switch now for only $349.
