Put QuickLists in your dropdowns

Written by on October 30, 2012

Among our more popular tech tips are those about QuickLists. In past tips, we’ve covered using partial phrases as QuickLists, how to save entire sections as a single field, as in the case of building a custom neighborhood database, how to choose and save your own set of fields across the form, as well as how to share your QuickLists with other WinTOTAL users on your network.

Once you’ve decided to use QuickLists, as opposed to Recent Responses (the default dropdowns which only save one field at a time), you can set the drop-downs to pull QuickLists instead of Recent Responses.

To do this in WinTOTAL, open the configuration window, click Forms at the top, then choose the option to show QuickLists in your dropdowns. Click Save, and now what you see in your dropdowns matches what you’ve created in the QuickList panel on the left. In TOTAL, click Tools, then Configure Settings. Choose Forms on the left, and then bullet the option to use QuickLists in your dropdowns.

As a bonus, now that you can see your QuickLists in the forms, you can use the F9 hotkey to hide the panel on the left, which expands your forms view to fill the entire width of your screen. Use the hotkeys to access the Addenda, E&O, and Worksheet. Or, just use the F9 key to bring the panel back up.

QuickLists are exclusive to WinTOTAL and TOTAL, so click here to try them out in a fully-functional demo.
