DISTO University: Measuring exterior walls with “no target”

Written by on April 29, 2015

This is a guest post from Kevin Rinaldi-Young, Content Production Specialist at Leica Geosystems. You can find Leica DISTO in the TOTAL Store here.

In my last blog post (read it here), I said that we were in the process of producing tutorial videos that walk DISTO users through the functions and steps required to capture accurate measurements. Over the past months I’ve been busy doing just that. The video below is the first in the series and addresses the question we hear most from appraisers using DISTOs outdoors: How do I measure an exterior wall with a laser when there is no target to hit at either end?”

Sound familiar? If you’ve been to an a la mode Roadshow this is covered extensively in the DISTO training session. Here we cover the proper technique for the add-subtract function using the DISTO D810 Touch (get it here). The user interface and the step by step process is exactly the same for the DISTO E7500i model.

Stay tuned to the a la mode Appraisal Team Blog for the next installments in the series that cover Smart Horizontal, Pythagoras, Measure in a Picture, and more.
