First Modern Appraiser Roadshow a success

Written by on May 14, 2014

We hosted our first Modern Appraiser Roadshow last week in downtown Oklahoma City. This is a new series of three-day appraiser training workshops we’re hosting beginning this summer. Stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, check out Sales Representative Kevin Sommers’ account of last week’s event as well as a video testimonial from attendees.

Not only was this my first time getting to attend one of our live workshops, it was my first time getting to meet appraisers face to face. It was a delight to get to meet the people who have been using our software for so many years as well as appraisers who’ve just started using our products. It was a heartwarming feeling getting to hear how much they enjoy our software as well as the company itself.

Day one of the Mobile Appraiser Roadshow covers TOTAL. Many of you already use TOTAL, but are you using it efficiently and effectively? Joel and Paul, our instructors for the event, show the features that make your workflow faster – QuickLists, Comps Database, merging data, and the MLS Importer to name a few. You have heard of these features and maybe used them, but you probably don’t know the tips and tricks. For instance, did you know you can save multiple fields as a single QuickList? How about setting up your MLS data to flow right into your report? Would you know how to recover a report back to a certain date if you made a mistake or overwrote it? They cover this and much, much more.

Day two our instructors show how to market to non-lender clients (homeowners, attorneys, agents, etc.) while staying compliant. They talk about identifying client types and needs, how to resolve them, and how to build an XSite and XSellerate campaign to cater to each client and get orders. In the afternoon, they covered desktop sketching in TOTAL Sketch. Thanks to our expert Paul, we were shown everything from drawing those pesky angles down to using a DISTO effectively.

Day three is mobile workflow. I heard many appraisers buzzing about this course from the first day and it was great getting to see their reactions and excitement to our paperless solutions. We found that the appraisers attending generate about 50 pieces of paper per report. Our instructors showed how to ditch the manila folders and have everything in one mobile device with various apps. Plus, you no longer have to type what was written out in the field or hassle with uploading your photos from your camera – a major time saver. TOTAL for Mobile does it all for you with its syncing process.

Joel and Paul get you to think outside of the box. They show you how to effectively use third party apps such as Dropbox and Evernote with the software, making the appraisal process simple and organized.

Since I already know a lot about our products, I wasn’t sure how much appraisers would learn going in. Those concerns were gone by the end of the first day when attendees told me how much this course would improve their workflow and make them more efficient. Each day they were engaged and walked away having learned something new. But don’t just take my word for it, here’s what two attendees had to say:

I’m excited we’re kicking off this new Roadshow and hope to see you at our events this summer and fall! Stay tuned for dates and locations.
