How safe is your county (and your appraisal data)?

We like this National Hazard map because it's an interactive way to see how safe your county is from natural disaster. Having the headquarter in Naples, FL, and Operations Center in Oklahoma City, OK, being well-prepared for natural disasters is in our core DNA. After all, we live with natural events including hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, and lately even earthquakes. Our offices are in the top counties with highest natural hazard risk.

Since we support more than a half of the nation’s appraisers, we’ve invested millions into disaster-proof and recovery systems. Even though you probably don’t have a giant power generator, it doesn’t mean you just leave your business up to chance and hope that disasters won't strike your office.

With Hurricane Matthew just having hit the east coast, it's a good time to come up with a plan for what you'd do to protect your files in disasters. That includes the ice storms taking out power lines, tornadoes, fires, etc. And although we're talking about natural disasters, it could just be a simple hard drive crash too. Would you be prepared when the disaster strike?

In a matter of seconds, everything that you’ve worked so hard for could be destroyed. Your appraisals — along with your hard drive, your computer, and even worse, paper files. And when you’re ready to get back to business, you’ll have nothing to go back to and no place to start.

The Vault will protect your appraisal files, formfiller settings, signatures, databases, and more. Your reports and the database would be safe and you’d get back to work almost immediately. Wouldn't that be nice? Here’s how Vault with Exact can do just that and more to prepare and protect your business in any disaster:

  • Prepare for the unexpected — Vault stores your reports and other relevant documents like deeds, e-mails, plats and extra photos on the cloud. So, no matter if your office gets flooded or your computer crashes, your reports and the database remains intact.
  • Get back to work after the storm — Exact backs up your TOTAL settings like QuickLists (canned comments), contacts, signatures, and more, so you can restore all the settings as soon as you get to another computer in a safe area. Your appraisals will stay consistent through all the reports.
  • Meet the deadlines even when you're not at your desk — What if you have an emergency request from your client while you’re out of the office? As long as your reports are stored inside the Vault, you'll be able to download them to TOTAL on your laptop, make the revision, and deliver them on time.

Sooner or later, you'll encounter an unexpected crash, no matter if it's a natural or human-made catastrophe. Staying ahead of these disasters is always a wise move. So be aware of the hidden risk of harms and store your appraisals securely with Vault and Exact. So don't wait until it's too late to back up your files.
