Tornado update: Rebuilding in Moore

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a month since the tornadoes that made national headlines touched down in the Moore area here in Oklahoma, our home state. Recovery is well underway and we know it’ll be a long process.

As part of those efforts, volunteers from a la mode worked with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity this past Friday to help homeowners get their properties ready for new construction. The group removed valuables from a damaged home, tore down the existing structure, and cleaned up the area so the family can begin rebuilding.

"It's not easy to comprehend the impact the tornado had on so many people in Moore until you’re actually surrounded by the destruction," said Landi Latimer, an a la mode Sales Representative who volunteered in the disaster area. "It's an overwhelming feeling just driving through, seeing the damage, and realizing how many people this has affected. Being able to lend a hand to survivors and help them slowly put their lives back together felt good. It's definitely something I’ll never forget."

Oklahoma is known for hot summers, but that isn’t keeping volunteers like these away. In fact, we have teams going out continuously, and we’ll lend a hand throughout the recovery – however long it takes.

Thank you to every employee who has volunteered so far. We also want to thank our customers and business partners, many of whom continue to ship donations and ask how things are going. We’ve received a tremendous amount of support, and it feels great to be able to pass that along to those who were directly affected. We appreciate your continued solidarity.
